Power banks have become a valuable source of electricity nowadays. These easy to carry and lightweight battery chargers have surely saved our butts a few times.
Squinting at your cellphone screen to get a last glimpse of the city map before the battery cuts out…
Phones that scream that they have only 2% life left in them while you are still in the queue at the customer service since yesterday…
Your tablet battery decided to die during the final 15 minutes of Game of Thrones…
You know what I am talking about, right?
Our favorite solar power bank
On Mutiny, we have tons of equipment that need a regular charge but we don’t have the luxury to just plug-in and wait.
Not only because we have a 12 Volt power output (instead of the 220-240 Volt in houses), but mainly because we can’t fire up our engine if we decide to charge our laptop and phones (engines use loads of battery power to start). Even with our installed 230 Watt solar panels on deck, we can’t just charge whatever we want.
That is…until now
We did some research and came up with the Hiluckey Solar Charger from https://amzn.to/2YCBwSX
This baby has dual USB, 2.1A output, and 25000mAh so it packs some power.
LED lights will tell you exactly when it’s charging and how much juice it still holds.
There is also a flashlight option when needed but the coolest part is, that it is splash-proof. Not fully water resistant, mind you. So don’t charge your iPad while scuba diving but it survives a rogue wave crashing in the cockpit with ease.
Yup, a good deal and impressive performance
Another “feature” we like about our Hiluckey Solar Charger is that it’s about the size of a fat smartphone and maybe only twice as heavy.
That’s pretty impressive considering the bulky power banks we have encountered.
So there you have it. A perfect addition for Mutiny and her crew. As long as that big fireball in the sky is operational for the next few years, the Hiluckey Solar Charger Power Bank proved his place on board and part time on deck.
Hey, don’t just take our word for it. Check it out yourself…
